The Little Touches
We strongly believe in the philosophy that Annabel House is a home, not an institution. We are here to care, and believe that our residents are deserving of our respect, after all, we are working in their home.
In order to achieve our goals, and maintain our Philosophy of Care, we have many "little touches" which we believe helps set Annabel House apart from other nursing homes and enables our residents to be able to express themselves in creative and sociable ways.
This is, by no means, a comprehensive list. Everything we do at Annabel House is a touch that we believe improves the quality of life for our residents...
Sensory Garden
We have a Sensory Garden just outside of our main building which includes a water fall, pond complete with fish, a variety of free standing pots with specifically fragrant and sensory plants, Roses, bedding plants etc.

Colour Therapy
Did you know that the colour violet and similar colours around the pink spectrum relate to the crown chakra and its related organ is the brain? Did you also know that some of the associated problems relating to the crown chakra are Depression, Parkinson's disease, Schizophrenia, Epilepsy, Senile dementia, Alzheimer's, and many mental disorders. Violet is the highest colour in the visible spectrum, and is far more recognisable to humans with the above associated problems. In addition, violet has a very calming effect on us. At Annabel House we have been experimenting with painting our handrails and important doors in a violet/pink colour (such as bathrooms), following medical research, and it has had a very positive affect for our residents making our key areas instantly recognisable.
Activities
We have a great deal going on at Annabel House in order to stimulate our residents, mentally, creatively and physically. As well as walks in our local park, trips to the shops and visits to local garden centres, we also have many internal activities such as animal therapy, visits from local theatre groups, and a twice-weekly piano session.

Music
In addition to our visiting pianist, we have music playing in the lounges, activities room and corridors
throughout the day with a variety of relaxing melodies which have a calming effect on our residents.
